RWBY3 but where Jaune dies.
like it could easily work like we know a lot about Jaune, he has a strong relationship with RWBY, he wants to be a hero but doesn’t yet have the skills, he has a strong relationship with both Pyrrha and Ruby, like narratively it would make more sense?
Like instead of just Pyrrha going up the tower, Jaune sneaks up too, wanting to be the hero. When Pyrrha gets hit with the arrow in the ankle he runs up with his sword, but Pyrrha can’t save him this time, and Cinder laughs as he burns up, leaving behind only his family heirlooms, his sword and shield. Pyrrha can’t do anything but look on horror as Ruby sees this, and screaming in anguish for the loss of her first friend at Becon, Ruby unleashes her eye power thing.
It would work as a subversion of the classic tropes like Pyrrha has always seemed destined to be the sacrificial lamb, and Jaune the loveable idiot who proves himself. But this way the loveable idiot does the heroic sacrifice without meeting his full potential, and Pyrrha, the one who was supposed to die lives and has to find a way to remember Jaune when no one else will. Everyone is going to mourn the brilliant warrior who was the best and brightest Becon had to offer but who’s going try and honour the memory of the boy who sneaked his way into Becon, trying and failing to be the hero?
So Pyrrha continuing Jaune’s legacy, because he was the only one who saw her as she was, and when people say ‘what do you expect, he faked his transcripts, he wasn’t prepared at all’ Pyrrha can fight against this, saying that he had so much to offer to the world, but he just wasn’t ready, he was more than just a lovable idiot. And in the end, Jaune Arc would get to be the hero.
